Felted Flowers: Painting with Wool (two-day class)

Looking for a creative experience surrounded by the beauty of blooming gardens? Join fiber artist Margaret Mackie at the Alaska Botanical Gardens for a colorful, two-day outdoor workshop where art and nature come together. This class will explore the art of “painting” with fine Merino wool, creating a vibrant, nature scene, set among the flowers of the garden.

Saturday, June 13th, you will learn the foundations of wet felting, including the blending of colors, layering wool, and adding textures to build your design. The second day, June 14th, the pieces will be brought to life with rich detail by adding texture and dimension through needle felting, beading, and embroidery techniques. The class will be held in an outdoor classroom allowing the colors, shapes, and energy of the garden to inspire the creative process.

No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided. You are welcome to bring a meaningful photo of nature or simply be guided by the flowers around you. Open to ages 14 and up and you are invited to bring snacks or drinks for your enjoyment. Settle into the botanical garden setting, and enjoy days of artistic expression. Leave with a one-of-a-kind felted artwork and a memorable experience rooted in nature.

Spots are limited reserve ahead of time. There is a $5 cancellation fee for all cancellations. No refunds for cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice-
