Join us this summer for a different story every month. This summer we are highlighting local Alaskan authors. June 11th’s story will be “Mama, do you love me?” by Barbara Joosse. Illustrator, Barbara Lavalee, will be here to read the story to us!

BYO picnic and blanket on Father’s Day to enjoy an evening concert featuring The Robotz from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.

Learning CSA - Support Local Agriculture while Growing Your Own: offers all the material of Guided Gardening, plus 12 weeks of fresh produce grown onsite, seeds, and 1-year Family Membership to the Garden! -
Tai Chi at the Garden
Saturday, June 7th | 10:30 - 11:30am
Join Tai Chi instructor, Richie Goldstein, for an hour-long Tai Chi class. This low impact, mind-body practice will begin with a short warm up followed by a series of Qi Gong breathing exercises. You'll practice the Yang Style 24-movement Tai Chi with an emphasis on balance, both physical and mental.

Solstice Blooms
Friday, June 20th | 6:00 - 8:00pm
Using using the garden as inspiration, you’ll create your own mixed media compositions with high-quality materials including watercolors, artist crayons, watercolor pencils, and acrylic markers.

Ink Drawing Alpine Plants
Saturday, June 21st | 10:30am - 12:00pm
Learn drawing techniques using pen and ink to observe and sketch alpine wildflowers in the Rock Garden at ABG. You'll learn different line drawing techniques including crosshatching, stipple, brillo, and contour. Participants will also learn to use brush tip alcohol markers to layer and add color to drawings.

Music Together Mountain Song
Thursday, June 26th | 10:00am
Join us for a stroller-friendly musical tour of the garden for families with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We will sing, dance, and jam our way through the 1/2 mile paved garden loop.

Mud Day!
Friday, June 27th | 12:00 - 3:00pm
Mud Day is a nationally recognized day to get messy and play in nature!
We’ll have toys & sand boxes, exploding mud art, and more mud-themed activities!

Susitna Sunrise Painted Pots
Friday, June 27th | 6:00 - 7:30pm
Come paint with us and take home a flower pot to adorn your porch or windowsill! Using a classic tan plate, participants will choose from a variety of scenes, Susitna Mountain scene, wildflowers, garden gnomes or mushrooms, to paint on a terracotta pot.

The Garden is here to help you with all your field trip needs, whether you need us to come to you, or you wish to get away from the classroom and come to us! Programs offered year-round, Monday - Friday.Teachers and parents can schedule with the Garden directly by calling (907) 770-3692 or emailing the Garden at education@alaskabg.org.

ABG Donor Wall
The Alaska Botanical Garden only grows with the sun, the soil, and the ongoing support of our generous community. Consider a lasting gift by purchasing a leaf from the ABG donor wall sculpture. Contributions will be honored with a personalized, engraved metal leaf and make a great gift for friends or family to celebrate an important milestone or to honor the memory of a loved one. -
Repurpose Nursery Pots
We accept used pots in the following sizes:
Round: 1 gal. and 2 gal.
Square: 5.5”, 4”, and 3.5” (deep + regular)Clean pots in good condition can be dropped off with staff during open hours.
Pots left at ABG without staff awareness will be taken to the landfill.

Nationally Accredited Meconopsis Collection
Commonly referred to as Himalayan poppies, the genus Meconopsis is composed of fuzzy, flowering plants native to the Tibetan Plateau.
