The Alaska Botanical Garden provides our community with a peaceful woodland retreat within minutes of downtown Anchorage. The Gardens showcase perennial and annual plants suitable for southcentral Alaska. The interpretive nature trail is a natural classroom to learn about our native flora. Our educational and horticultural offerings grow each year because of the generosity and support of people like you.

Gardens can, and must be, a place to learn about plants as our life support system. They provide us with food, clothing, medicine, and fuel. They house us, provide a basis for medicines and create the environment in which we live. For this reason, gardens should be the first contact between kids and the natural world, and they should serve as a resource for teachers as a great place to learn science.
