Native Plant Walk with Tikaan Galbreath of Anchorage Food Mosaic


Join Tikaan Galbreath of the Anchorage Food Mosaic for an educational walk through ABG learning about native flora and medicinal and culinary uses. Limited space, so register early! Participants will be walking throughout the Garden, so please dress properly.

Enjoy a Fall Harvest Festival with a scarecrow contest, family fun & games, food, vendors. View our new Anchorage Heritage Garden!

Plant a Row for the Hungry! Food drive & harvest for Bean's Cafe, the Children's Lunchbox, & the Food Bank of Alaska.

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Workshop: "Fall Gardening: Dividing Peonies & Other Perennials" with Mike Monterusso

Join Mike Monterusso for a second workshop on tending your perennial garden. Learn advanced techniques to divide perennials, specifically peonies. Attendees will learn how to properly divide their perennials as well as additional fall garden maintenance topics. All of this workshop will be outside and hands-on. Please dress properly and bring gardening gloves with you. Participants will be walking to various areas of the Garden, so please also wear sturdy footwear. All participants will be able to take home a divided perennial (not a peony) to add to their garden.

Workshop: "Dividing & Growing Dahlias" with Amelia Walsh

Join Master Gardener Amelia Walsh for a hands-on workshop all about basic dahlia care, growing tips, and how to properly divide tubers in the fall. Workshops attendees will divide dahlia tubers and be able to take some home for their own garden. This workshop will be held indoors and outdoors, so please dress accordingly. This is a hands-on and experiential workshop, so please bring gardening gloves with you if you have them and be prepared to get some dirt on your hands! :)

Workshop: Growing Garlic in Alaska


Join Julianne McGuinness for a hands-on garlic tasting and planting session. Learn about the many varieties of garlic that perform well in Southcentral Alaska gardens. Participants will take home some garlic to plant in their own gardens.

Be sure to dress for the outdoors and bring your gardening gloves!

Workshop: Worm Bins, Compost Bins, and Has-beens with Ellen Vande Visse


Join Ellen Vande Visse of Good Earth Garden School for a fun workshop on composting and vermicomposting. Ellen has been has been training folks how to farm and garden using organic methods since 1987 and is the author of Ask Mother Nature: A Consious Gardener's Guide.

During this owrkshop, you will refine your skills on how to operate the Earth Machine composter, effectively combine browns & greens, manage indoor worm bins, avoid flies and stink, and produce a top-quality product. This workshop is appropriate for beginners and experience composters alike. 

This workshop will take place indoors and outdoors, so please dress appropriately.
